Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning.
The Lord is calling us to faithful waiting. This waiting isn’t a fearful hiding. This waiting calls us to beautiful, brave, sacrificial work. It is good, diligent, Kingdom work. It is a call for readiness and stewardship of the time and talents He has entrusted to us.
As a church, we just finished the “Soon” series on the book of Revelation. On the final Sunday of the series, Pastor Mike gave us the charge to pick up our lanterns and our shovels. To wait and to work. To be Salt and Light.
This month will be dedicated to Servant Ministry where waiting and working is the focus. You will see a lantern logo signifying the kind of servants we want to be: the faithful and ready servant described in Luke 12:35. We will hold our “lamps” (our lives and our hearts) up high, and we will shine brightly as we wait for the great return of our Master, Jesus Christ, the greatest servant who ever lived and still LIVES!
If you get a chance, read Luke 12:35-47. Here, we read about the high calling we have as Christ followers. We don’t want to be saved and then sit on our hands. We can push past fear and doubt and step into our calling. We won’t hide our light under a basket. We can live out the good news by His strength. He’s intentionally equipped us and we can look for ways to point people to Him every single day. If you’re not sure where to start, we would love to help.
This month, there will be many ways to learn more about Servant Ministry. Check out this calendar of events and consider where God might be calling you to work for Him while you wait for Him. Let’s be found ready and faithful!
